Mini Museum of the Golden Mummies
To date archaeologists have excavated more than 250 Greco-Roman era mummies from 11 tombs in the Bahariya Oasis. The largest Mummy find ever in Egypt.
“They are untouched, we are finding mummies encased in gold, paintings, coins and other artifacts, exactly as they were buried in the Greco-Roman period between the third century B.C. and the fourth century A.D. In Egypt, that is extremely rare.” says Zahi Hawass, leader of the Valley of the Mummies excavations and the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities.
